I received my Pro-Tac backrest last night and installed it on my 1500A.   It was the simplest installation I'll probably ever do on my bike.   The backrest consists of 3 pieces: backrest and 2 brackets.   I removed the front bolt from the chrome seat rail, and placed the backrest brackets over the rail and replaced the bolts.   Then the backrest just slides into the brackets.   Took all of 1 minute to complete the installation.

The backrest matches the stock seat on my bike in both looks and quality.   It looks like it was meant to be on the bike.   Even though the support brackets are black, mine are almost totally hidden behind my saddlebags, so they are not that noticeable.   The support rails look a little thin, but the backrest comes with a 5-year warranty, so Pro-Tac must have a lot of confidence in the design.

First impression from a quick test-sit:   I now feel like I could put my feet up on the highway bars and ride into the sunset.   I think I could easily outlast a tank of gas riding with the backrest in place.   Unfortunately, it will be another 2 months before I'll be able to ride into the sunset.   Winter is still upon us...   I put the cover back on the bike and rolled it back to it's corner of the garage, not to be seen again for a while.   For anyone else thinking of a backrest purchase, I recommend the Pro-Tac backrest.   It is good quality for the money, easy installation and removal, and fits the look of the Vulcan very nicely.
