After a few 50-75 mile rides I determined that the stock VN1500D1 saddle was not going to make it on the 4000 mile ride home from NYC to Seattle (Sept'96).   It is too soft and shapeless to provide the kind of support needed for the long ride, let alone a tour.

I called up the Corbin web-site and looked for a new saddle, but no luck.   Off goes the e-mail to inquire if and when they would be producing a saddle for the new "Big Classic".

"Soon," was the answer, "we're working on the design."

That was at the end of June (1996) and I put in my order for a saddle which did not yet exist.   Over the next month and a half, I was in frequent communication with the Corbin folks checking on its' progress.   It took awhile, in fact, they finally got it to me just 10 days before my departure.

The Corbin "Classic Solo" is a sturdy, hefty seat with a shape that fits me well.   If you are a larger individual (42"+ waist) the dish of the seat may prove a bit tight.   (If you tell Corbin about it, they can probably customize the saddle for your dimensions.) This is not a soft seat.   But, after you've spent a little time in the saddle - be it a horse, bicycle, car, or motorcycle - you come to understand that it's shape and support that you need, no cush.
